Fellows are honored for providing intellectual leadership and making significant research or service contributions to the field, usually over a period of at least a decade or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The following individuals join this outstanding group of individuals in the AI field. (For a complete list of AI Fellows please see&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aaai.org\/Awards\/fellows-list.php\">www.aaai.org\/Awards\/fellows-list.php<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Carla E. Brodley (Northeastern University)<br>For significant contributions to machine learning and its application to science, engineering and medicine, and to increasing the participation of underrepresented groups in computer science.<\/li><li>Jonathan Gratch (USC Institute for Creative Technologies)<br>For significant contributions to the fields of affective computing, virtual human research and autonomous systems.<\/li><li>Michael N. Huhns (University of South Carolina)<br>For significant contributions to the field of multiagent systems and its applications in information management and service-oriented computing.<\/li><li>Kevin Knight (Information Sciences Institute, University of Southern California)<br>For significant contributions to statistical machine translation, automata for natural language processing, and decipherment of historical manuscripts.<\/li><li>James C. Lester (North Carolina State University)<br>For significant and sustained contributions to artificial intelligence technologies for education.<\/li><li>Chih-Jen Lin (National Taiwan University)<br>For significant contributions to the field of machine learning, and the development of a widely used SVM software.<\/li><li>Sridhar Mahadevan (University of Massachusetts Amherst)<br>For significant contributions to the field of machine learning including pioneering work in robot learning and representation discovery.<\/li><li>Mark Maybury (The MITRE Corporation)<br>For advancing natural language text generation and summarization, intelligent multimedia systems, intelligent user interfaces and knowledge management.<\/li><li>David C.
